If your feed has been full of two people in a bright orange booth trading rap lines into a single hanging microphone, you've seen the Hotel Lobby trend. Here's what it is, where the look comes from, and how to make a version starring you and a friend.
What the Hotel Lobby trend is
In September and October 2026, TikTok and X filled up with "Hotel Lobby" AI videos (Know Your Meme, Tom's Guide). The format is simple and easy to spot:
- Two people side by side
- A bright orange booth behind them
- One microphone hanging between them
- The two of them trading rap lines back and forth
That's the whole recipe. It reads instantly on a phone screen, and it's built for two, which makes it a natural pick for you and a best friend, a sibling or a partner.
Where the look comes from
The look comes from Quavo and Takeoff's performance of "HOTEL LOBBY" on A COLORS SHOW, published on YouTube on June 17, 2022: the two of them side by side in front of an orange backdrop, sharing one microphone that hangs from above. "Booth" is the meme's word for it; the original is an open studio set.
In September 2026 people started putting their own faces into that frame with AI video tools, and the format took off; the earliest dated example Know Your Meme lists is a TikTok from September 16. Quavo reposted the original performance on X on September 23, 2026 (XXL, Complex).
The trend has critics too. Takeoff died in November 2022, and some fans object to AI videos that recreate his likeness (Complex and XXL both cover this). A version with your own faces and your own words sidesteps that.
A quick, important note: Kiravu is not affiliated with the artists or with COLORS. Kiravu doesn't use the original song or its lyrics. Our orange booth stage recreates the look, and you fill it with your own faces and an original verse.
How to make your own with Kiravu
You need two photos (or one photo of both of you) and a few minutes.
- Pick Duo mode. Upload one selfie per person. If you only have a photo of the two of you together, use the One photo mode instead.
- Use good photos. Clear, front-facing, good light, shoulders visible, one face per photo. No sunglasses or heavy filters. JPG, PNG or WEBP up to 10 MB.
- Choose the Hotel Lobby orange booth. It's one of nine stages. Each of you gets your own vintage mic on a floor stand at chest height, so both faces stay visible.
- Pick a topic. Best friends is the classic pick. Love, How we met, Birthday and Roast all work too.
- Edit the lyrics. Verse 1 is person 1, verse 2 is person 2, each about 16 to 22 words at the default 12 seconds. Finish with a hook of one to six words that you both shout together.
- Pick a beat. Trap (hard 808s, about 140 BPM) gives you the punchy back-and-forth. Boom bap (about 90 BPM) feels more laid back. Melodic suits a love song.
- Render. A standard song (12 seconds at 720p on Standard) is 10 credits; 480p is 5, and faster or sharper models, 1080p and longer clips cost more. It usually takes 2–5 minutes, and the finished video waits in My videos if you leave the page. If a render fails, your credits come back.
You get a short vertical MP4 (12 seconds by default) with no watermark, ready for TikTok, Reels or Shorts. The Hotel Lobby AI page has the stage and examples in one place.
Write your own booth verse
Since you're not using the original song, the verse is yours to write. The format rewards short, punchy lines that end on a rhyme. Two original examples:
Best friends
- Verse 1: "Same booth, same mic, same terrible plan / one take, we said, now it's ninety and counting, fam"
- Verse 2: "You bring the snacks and I bring the drama / we've been a duo since the days of pajamas"
- Hook: "Orange booth legends!"
Couple
- Verse 1: "You stole my hoodie and you stole the show / but you're the one I want at the mic, you know"
- Verse 2: "You pick the music and I pick the food / one booth, two hearts, and a very good mood"
- Hook: "Still my favorite!"
Keep each verse to two lines and count your words. If a line feels crowded, cut it. For more ready-to-use lines, see 60 funny rap lyrics.
Duo ideas
The trend works with almost any pair. Some that land well:
- Best friends since school. Use the Best friends topic and put an old inside joke in verse 1.
- Siblings. Use Family and let each of you roast who got away with more growing up.
- Couples. Love or How we met on a Melodic beat, ending on a sweet hook.
- Roommates. Who cooks is made for this. Settle the dishes argument on camera.
- Coworkers. The Coworkers topic, a shared grudge against the printer, done.
- Long-distance friends. Each of you sends a selfie and you're in the same booth at last.
- Teammates. Team win, Trap beat, the score in the hook.
- You and your mom or dad. Family topic. Get a yes first and let them pick the hook.
- Grandparent and grandkid. Same idea. This one tends to get passed around the family chat.
- Birthday duo. You and the birthday person, Birthday topic, their name in the hook. Our birthday rap song page has lines ready to go.
- Graduation pair. You and your study buddy, Graduation topic, a hook about finally being done.
- Friendly rivals. Use the Roast topic. The performers turn toward each other and trade playful insults. For a darker, red-lit look, the Battle stage on the AI rap battle generator fits even better.
Caption ideas
The caption does half the work. Some you can borrow:
- "We finally got our own booth"
- "Told her one take. It was not one take."
- "Hotel lobby, but make it us"
- "The duo nobody asked for"
- "Day ones in the orange booth"
- "Our group chat, but rapping"
- "He wrote verse 2. I'm still mad."
- "Siblings settling it in the booth"
- "Mom said yes, so here we are"
- "Ten years of friendship, twelve seconds of bars"
- "Tag the person you'd put in the booth"
- "We needed a rap name, so we got one"
For that last one, the rap name generator is free and doesn't need an account.
Use the trend's hashtag so people looking for it can find you. Something like #hotellobby works.
Do it the right way
The trend is fun because it's personal. Keep it that way:
- Use your own faces. Only upload photos of yourself or of people who agreed. Kiravu doesn't allow celebrities or public figures, and you tick a rights confirmation before every render.
- Write your own words. Don't paste in the original song's lyrics. The point is your verse about your people.
- Show your friend before you post. A quick "can I post this?" keeps everyone happy.
On privacy: uploaded photos are used only to make the video and are deleted from storage after 7 days. Finished videos stay in your account until you delete them. The vocals and beat are AI-generated and original.
Want a twist on the look?
Once you've made the orange booth version, try the same verse somewhere else:
- Marble lobby for a cleaner, fancier hotel feel
- Neon studio for a late-night session
- Rooftop at night for city lights
- Christmas lounge or Halloween night when the season comes around
Same photos, new stage, new post. If you're new to all this, our step-by-step guide on how to make an AI rap video covers photos and lyrics in more detail. Comparing Hotel Lobby tools? Our comparison of AI rap video generators covers which ones write the song and which stay silent.
