How it works

How to make a Tiny Desk AI video

  1. ONE

    Upload one clear selfie

A front-facing photo from the chest or waist up, in good light, with your face and hair visible. What you wear in the photo is what you wear on stage.

  2. TWO

Keep the stage, rewrite the song

The Tiny Desk stage and the Live soul beat are preloaded. Edit verse 1, verse 2 and the closing line, or keep the starter lyrics about a too-strong coffee and a stolen show.

  3. THREE

    Render and download

Check the credit cost, tap render and wait 2 to 5 minutes. The vertical MP4 lands in My videos with no watermark, ready for TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

What a Tiny Desk AI video looks like

The Tiny Desk stage is a small office corner turned into a live room: wooden shelves packed with records, books, plants and little trophies, warm lamps on every shelf, a cluttered desk with coffee mugs and a red keyboard, a drum kit squeezed into the corner and an old rug on the floor.

You stand at the front at your own vintage mic on a floor stand, framed from the waist up. Behind you a small band of made-up musicians plays along, slightly out of focus: keys at the desk, a saxophone and drums. They never sing, so the only voice is yours.

The whole clip is one continuous shot with no captions or logos. It looks like a set someone filmed between meetings.

The Live soul beat

This page loads Live soul, a beat made for this stage: Rhodes electric piano, a round walking bassline, brushed drums and a saxophone that answers each line, at about 95 BPM. You sing instead of rap, with long notes and a little grit.

You can swap it. Melodic gives a cleaner pop and R&B song, Boom bap turns the office into a nineties cypher and Trap makes it loud. The stage stays the same, so you can try one song in a few styles.

The vocals and the music are generated with the video. Kiravu never uses an existing song, recording or lyrics.

Solo by default, a duet if you want one

Tiny Desk sets usually have one singer out front, so this page starts in Solo mode: one selfie, you sing both verses.

Switch to Duo for a duet. Upload one selfie per person, or one photo of you both in Duo from one photo mode. Person 1 sings verse 1, person 2 sings verse 2 and you finish together in harmony. The band stays behind you either way.

Only upload photos of yourself or of people who agreed to it. Celebrities and public figures are not allowed.

Photo tips for the lead singer

The video is built from your photo, so a good photo makes a better performance.

  • Face the camera. A clear, front-facing face gives the lip-sync what it needs.
  • Get your shoulders in. You are framed from the waist up, so a chest-up or waist-up photo works best.
  • Use soft, even light, near a window or a lamp.
  • Skip sunglasses, hats that hide your eyes and heavy filters.
  • Dress for the set. A sweater, a denim jacket or your work shirt fits the office-concert look.

Length, size and price

The default is a 12-second song, vertical 9:16, at 720p on the Standard model, for 10 credits. You can pick 5, 8, 10, 12 or 15 seconds, a square or horizontal frame, and 1080p on the Pro and Flagship models. The credit cost shows before you tap render.

If a render fails, the credits come back automatically. Every finished video also goes through a lyric check: if the first take misses too many of your words, Kiravu re-renders it once for free.

Tiny Desk AI song ideas

Starting points for the lyrics. Rewrite every word to make it yours.

Monday morning soul

A slow, heartfelt song about the alarm, the commute and the coffee that saves the day. Try: "The printer jammed, the meeting ran long, so I turned my cubicle into a song."

Retirement send-off

Sing a thank-you for a coworker who is leaving. Thirty years of reply-alls, one big closing note.

Birthday serenade

Put their name in the hook and sing it like a soul ballad. Switch the topic to Birthday for starter lyrics.

Love song from the desk

Pick the Love topic and keep Live soul. A small room and a sax make even a corny line sound sincere.

Team win anthem

The launch shipped, the quarter closed. Two coworkers in Duo mode sing the victory lap for the team chat.

Ode to your pet

A dramatic soul song about the cat who sits on your keyboard. Long notes, eyes closed, full commitment.

FAQ

FAQ

What is Tiny Desk AI?

Tiny Desk AI is a trend of AI videos that put you at the front of a small office-corner concert, the look made famous by live sets filmed at a desk. On Kiravu, you upload a selfie and get a short video of you singing lead on that kind of stage, with a live-sounding soul band behind you.

Is this affiliated with NPR or the Tiny Desk Concerts?

No. Kiravu is not affiliated with or endorsed by NPR or Tiny Desk Concerts. Our Tiny Desk stage recreates the general office-concert look with your own face, an invented band and original AI-made music. No show branding, real performers or existing songs are used.

How many photos do I need?

One clear selfie in Solo mode. For a duet, upload two selfies, or one photo that shows both of you side by side.

Who are the musicians behind me?

They are invented by the AI and play keys, saxophone and drums. They are not real people and never sing, so the only voice in the video is yours.

Does the video have sound?

Yes. You get your vocals singing your lyrics, lip-synced to your face, over the band. The music and voice are generated with the video, not taken from an existing recording.

How long is the video and what does it cost?

The default is 12 seconds, vertical, at 720p on Standard, for 10 credits. You can choose 5 to 15 seconds and up to 1080p on faster or sharper models; the cost shows before you render. Failed renders are refunded automatically.

Can I change the lyrics?

Yes, every word. Write verse 1, verse 2 and a short closing line. English works best, Chinese works well and other major languages usually work.

Is there a watermark?

No. Download the MP4 and post it to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts or the group chat.
