Rap Battle Lyrics: 9 Full Clean Battles to Perform

Nine original, clean rap battle lyrics, each with a full round and a comeback: siblings, roommates, coworkers, couples and more. Plus how to write your own.

Two cartoon rappers face off in a circle of people, one mid-verse reaching toward the other, while the crowd gasps and cheers

Most "rap battle lyrics" online are either one-liners or transcripts of famous battles you can't really perform with your friends. These are different: nine complete, original battles with a full round, a comeback and a shared hook, written to be performed by two people who like each other.

They're clean (no slurs, nothing about looks or identity), and every battle ends with a 12-second video cut: a short version that fits a two-person AI rap video, where person 1 raps verse 1 and person 2 fires back in verse 2. If you just want single lines to mix and match, our 100+ rap battle roasts has plenty.

How to use these battles

  • Live: one person performs the round, the other performs the comeback, both shout the hook. A slow boom bap beat at around 90 BPM gives you room to breathe.
  • On video: use the video cut. A full round is too long for a 12-second clip, so the cut keeps the strongest couplet from each side.
  • Make them yours: swap in real names, real places and the real incident everyone remembers. "You burned the toast" is fine. "You burned the toast at Sam's birthday" gets a laugh.

9 clean rap battle lyrics

1. Big Sis vs. Little Bro (siblings)

Round 1: Big Sis

I was here first, little bro, so respect the line
Had the back seat to myself till you came and claimed mine
You still yell "Mom!" when you can't find your shoes
They're on the stairs where you left them, that's the news
You "borrowed" my charger, my hoodie, my fries
Then smiled real sweet like you'd won a prize
I taught you to ride a bike, to swim, to tie a lace
Now you beat me at one game and you're rapping in my space

Comeback: Little Bro

Respect the line? You've been in the bathroom since dawn
I aged three years waiting and the hot water's gone
You taught me to ride, yeah, then you let go on a hill
I hit a mailbox, and I'm feeling that still
You're the "responsible one," that's the story they tell
But who broke the lamp and then blamed the cat so well?
I took your fries, true, but you ate my cake
Big sis, little bro, it's all give and take

Hook (together): "Same parents, same chaos!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "I was here first, little bro, so respect the line / had the back seat to myself till you came and claimed mine." Verse 2: "You taught me to ride, then you let go on a hill / I hit a mailbox, and I'm feeling that still." Hook: "Same parents, same chaos!"

2. The Dishes vs. The Thermostat (roommates)

Round 1: The Clean One

Your dishes in the sink built a skyline with a view
Some bowls are older than the lease, me and you
You leave one square of paper and you call that a roll
You eat my labeled yogurt and you leave me the bowl
Your music's on at midnight, your alarm's on at five
I'm the zombie in the hallway, you're the one who feels alive
Pay me back the twenty, or at least wash a spoon
I'll forgive you everything if you clean before noon

Comeback: The Cold One

Oh, the clean one's talking, with the thermostat locked
Sixty-one degrees, I'm in gloves and two socks
You leave notes on the fridge like a landlord in disguise
"Please rinse the sponge," underlined, with sighs
You vacuum at seven on a Saturday morning
No knock, no text, no polite little warning
Yeah, I owe you twenty, and I'll pay it, that's true
Right after the heating bill, roomie, that's on you

Hook (together): "Split the rent, not the friendship!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "Your dishes in the sink built a skyline with a view / some bowls are older than the lease, me and you." Verse 2: "You locked the thermostat at sixty-one degrees / I'm wearing gloves on the couch, roomie, turn it up, please." Hook: "Split the rent!"

3. Gamer vs. Gym Rat

Round 1: Gym Rat

Wake up, player one, it's already three p.m.
You grind all night, but you've never seen a gym
Your thumbs are in shape, I'll give you that, it's true
They're the only muscles getting any reps from you
I run five miles while you're stuck on a level
You're in a boss fight with the couch, and the couch is the devil
I lift heavy at dawn, you lift snacks at night
Log off and come outside, the sun is real, it's bright

Comeback: Gamer

Five miles a day, and you tell us every time
Every photo's a mirror, every caption's a crime
You count every calorie, every rep, every set
But you can't count the leg days you skipped, not yet
I don't need the sun, my screen's got better light
I saved a whole kingdom while you counted protein bites
You lift heavy at dawn, cool, I'm leveling up fast
Your record's a number, mine's a trophy built to last

Hook (together): "Same couch, different cardio!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "Your thumbs are in shape, I'll give you that, it's true / they're the only muscles getting any reps from you." Verse 2: "Five miles a day, and you tell us every time / every photo's a mirror, every caption's a crime." Hook: "Different cardio!"

4. The Monday Meeting (coworkers)

Round 1: The Organizer

Good morning, team, let's start with the one on mute
Talking five whole minutes like a silent film, cute
You "circle back" so much, we're dizzy at our desks
Your calendar's a maze of quick syncs and next steps
You reply-all with "thanks" to three hundred people
Your inbox manners are a horror-movie sequel
You microwave fish at noon in the shared kitchen space
The whole floor evacuates, it's a sad, smelly place

Comeback: The One on Mute

I'm on mute, sure, but at least I show up
You join from the car with a cold coffee cup
Your "quick question" takes forty minutes flat
Your screen share opened on a video of a cat
You booked a meeting just to plan the next meeting
Then a follow-up meeting, the cycle's repeating
The fish was salmon, and it was delicious, thanks
Go back to your slides with the forty-seven blanks

Hook (together): "This could've been an email!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "You 'circle back' so much, we're dizzy at our desks / your calendar's a maze of quick syncs and next steps." Verse 2: "You booked a meeting just to plan the next meeting / then a follow-up meeting, the cycle's repeating." Hook: "This could've been an email!"

5. Ride or Die, Mostly Ride (best friends)

Round 1: Friend A

We've been friends since the swings and the juice-box days
And you've been "five minutes away" in a hundred ways
You borrowed my jacket in the ninth grade, I recall
It's in your closet now, it's your favorite of all
You text me "I'm outside" and you're still at your place
You plan a whole trip, then you cancel with grace
You give the worst advice with the most confidence
And somehow it works, which makes zero sense

Comeback: Friend B

Five minutes away? I'm worth the wait, you know
You pick the restaurant, then ask "where should we go?"
You still bring up the jacket, it's been ten whole years
You cried at a cartoon and I wiped up your tears
You sing in the car like the radio's yours
Off-key at full volume till the neighbors shut their doors
You said my advice works, so I'll take that as a win
Ride or die, mostly ride, now let the hook come in

Hook (together): "Ride or die, mostly ride!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "We've been friends since the swings and the juice-box days / and you've been 'five minutes away' in a hundred ways." Verse 2: "You still bring up the jacket, it's been ten whole years / you cried at a cartoon and I wiped up your tears." Hook: "Mostly ride!"

6. Who Cooks Tonight (couples)

Round 1: Partner A

Babe, I love you, but the thermostat's a war
You set it to arctic, then you steal the blankets and ask for more
You say "I'm not hungry," then you eat all my fries
You pick the restaurant by saying "you decide"
You fall asleep in movies at minute number ten
Then ask me for the ending and you watch it all again
You leave the cabinets open like a museum display
I bump my head daily, it's a ritual, I'd say

Comeback: Partner B

"You decide," okay, but you veto every place
Twelve options on the table and you make the same face
Sushi? No. Pizza? No. Tacos? Not today
Then you're starving and mad like I chose the delay
You load the dishwasher like it's Tetris on hard
One fork out of place and you're standing on guard
You "just need five minutes" to get ready to go
Forty minutes later, you're still choosing shoes, I know

Hook (together): "Still choosing you!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "You say 'I'm not hungry,' then you eat all my fries / you pick the restaurant by saying 'you decide.'" Verse 2: "Sushi? No. Pizza? No. Tacos? Not today / then you're starving and mad like I chose the delay." Hook: "Still choosing you!"

7. Last Day of Term (teacher vs. class)

Round 1: The Teacher

Settle down, class, it's my turn on the mic
Your homework was late, but your excuses? Outta sight
"The dog ate my essay," that's a classic, I've heard
Your dog must be a scholar, he's eaten every word
You stretched one paragraph across five whole pages
With a font so big it'll be loading for ages
You ask "is this on the test?" every single day
Yes, it's on the test, everything's on the test, okay?

Comeback: The Class

With respect, teacher, can we say something real?
Your jokes are older than the textbook, that's the deal
You said "this'll be quick," then you talked through the bell
The class plant by the window didn't feel so well
You write on the board so small we need a telescope
You give a pop quiz the day after break, no hope
You're the best teacher here, but don't tell anybody
Now can we watch a movie? It's the last day, it's a party

Hook (together): "Class dismissed!"

This one is made to be performed live in a classroom or a school talent show. Kiravu videos are for adults, so for a video version, cast two teachers or a college class.

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "'The dog ate my essay,' that's a classic, I've heard / your dog must be a scholar, he's eaten every word." Verse 2: "You give a pop quiz on the day after break / we haven't found our backpacks, for goodness' sake." Hook: "Class dismissed!"

8. Grandma Takes the Mic (grandma vs. grandson)

Round 1: Grandma

Sit down, sweetheart, Grandma's got the floor
I've been rhyming since before you could open a door
You call once a month and it's mostly to eat
Then you leave with my leftovers wrapped up nice and neat
You stare at your phone at the family meal
I tell my best story and you scroll, is that real?
You can't sew a button, you can't boil an egg
I've done both at once while I'm standing on one leg

Comeback: Grandson

Grandma, you're a legend, but you text in all caps
Every message looks like you're starting a fight, perhaps
You send "good morning" pictures at five-oh-two
With a sparkly flower and a cat in a shoe
You call me to fix the TV every Sunday night
I turn it off and on, and you say "now it's right"
Your recipe page has more followers than mine
Okay, Grandma, you win, the stage is all thine

Hook (together): "Grandma wins again!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "You call once a month and it's mostly to eat / then you leave with my leftovers wrapped up nice and neat." Verse 2: "Grandma, you're a legend, but you text in all caps / every message looks like you're starting a fight, perhaps." Hook: "Grandma wins again!"

9. Dog Person vs. Cat Person

Round 1: Dog Person

My dog meets me at the door like I won a medal
Your cat looks at you like you're a bill to settle
My dog fetches, sits, rolls over and shakes hands
Your cat knocks your mug off the counter, as planned
I walk my dog daily, we know every street
Your cat sits in a box and you call that a treat
Unconditional love, that's what I get every day
Your cat loves you too, when the food's on the tray

Comeback: Cat Person

Your dog loves everybody, even the mail guy
He'd leave with a stranger for a piece of pie
My cat chose me, and that's a love you earn
Your dog would choose a sandwich, will you ever learn?
You're out in the rain at six with a leash in your hand
I'm warm in my bed, and my cat understands
Your couch is all fur and your shoes are all chewed
My cat's on the windowsill, judging your mood

Hook (together): "Love all the pets!"

12-second video cut. Verse 1: "My dog greets me like I won a gold medal / your cat looks at you like you're a bill to settle." Verse 2: "Your dog loves everybody, even the mail guy / he'd leave with a stranger for a piece of pie." Hook: "Love all the pets!"

The funniest rap battle lines from these battles

If you only steal a few, steal these. They're the lines that got the biggest reactions when we read the battles out loud.

How to write your own rap battle verse

Open spiral notebook full of colorful scribbles and arrows, beside a vintage microphone, headphones and a pencil
Most good battle verses start as a messy page of rhymes.

Pick a rhyme scheme

  • Couplets (AABB): lines 1 and 2 rhyme, then 3 and 4. Every battle above uses them. They're the easiest to write and the easiest for a crowd to follow.
  • Alternating (ABAB): lines 1 and 3 rhyme, 2 and 4 rhyme. It sounds more polished, but it's harder to land a punchline.
  • Multis (multi-syllable rhymes): rhyme two or more syllables, like "medal / settle" or "level / devil". They make a line sound sharper. One multi per round is enough to impress.

Setup, then punchline

The first line of a couplet sets the scene. The second line lands the joke, and the joke lives in the last word. Write that last word first, then build the line backwards to reach it. "Your cat looks at you like you're a bill to... settle" only works because "settle" comes last.

Use details everyone knows

Two or three real habits are enough for a whole round: the late arrivals, the burnt dinner, the phone at the table. Things the whole room has seen get the biggest laughs. Leave looks, identity, health and real money trouble alone. Our roast rules cover where the line is.

Write the comeback to flip the round

The best comebacks grab something from round 1 and turn it around. In "Big Sis vs. Little Bro", she says she taught him to ride a bike; he answers that she let go on a hill. Write round 1 first, then underline two things your opponent said that you can flip.

Keep the lines even

Lines of similar length are easier to rap on beat. If one line runs long, cut words before you change the rhyme. Then read the verse out loud over a beat. Anything you trip on twice, rewrite.

End on a truce

Finish with a hook you shout together: "Same parents, same chaos!" It tells everyone watching that the battle was for fun.

Turn a battle into a two-person video

Kiravu makes a short video of the two of you rapping on a stage, lip-synced to your faces, from one selfie each. Here's how to turn any battle above into one.

  1. Choose Duo mode and upload one clear, front-facing selfie per person (or one photo of you both side by side). Only use photos of people who agreed, and no celebrities.
  2. Pick the Roast topic. The two performers turn toward each other and trade lines, rap battle style.
  3. Pick the Battle stage: an underground room with red spotlights and a vintage mic on a floor stand for each of you. Then pick a beat: Trap for a modern battle, Boom bap for an old-school cypher.
  4. Paste the video cut. Person 1 raps verse 1, person 2 raps verse 2. At the default 12 seconds, each verse fits up to 22 words and the hook up to 6.
  5. Render. A 12-second video at 720p on the Standard model is 10 credits. It usually takes 2–5 minutes, and failed renders give the credits back automatically.

Want the whole battle, not just the cut? Split it into a series: make one video from the first two couplets of each side, another from the next two, and post them as part 1 and part 2.

The AI rap battle generator opens with this setup ready. If one of you wants a whole one-sided verse of payback, try the diss track generator.

Pick your battle

Choose the battle that fits your duo, swap in the details only your friends will get, and decide who goes first. Then take it to the stage, or to the home page to make the video.

Frequently asked questions

What are good lyrics for a rap battle?

Good rap battle lyrics are about your opponent, not about rap in general. Pick two or three habits everyone knows (always late, burns dinner, lives on the phone), write rhyming couplets where the second line lands the joke, and leave room for a comeback. The nine battles in this post are full examples you can perform as written or swap your own details into.

How long should a rap battle verse be?

For a friendly battle, 8 to 12 lines per round is plenty: long enough to build, short enough that the crowd stays with you. For a short AI rap video, it has to be much shorter. A 12-second Kiravu video fits up to 22 words per verse and a hook of up to 6 words, so each battle here has a "video cut".

How do you write rap battle rhymes?

Start with the punch word and write the line backwards to land on it. Couplets (AABB) are the easiest scheme. Multi-syllable rhymes like "medal / settle" or "level / devil" sound sharper. And the best comeback rhymes with a word your opponent just used, because a flip always beats a new insult.

Can I use these rap battle lyrics?

Yes. Every lyric here is original and written by the Kiravu team. Perform them at a party, in class, in a talent show or in a video, and change any line you like. They contain no lyrics from real songs.

How do I make a rap battle video with a friend?

In Kiravu, choose Duo mode and upload one selfie each, pick the Roast topic and the Battle stage, then paste the video cut: person 1 raps verse 1, person 2 raps verse 2, and you both shout the hook. A 12-second video at 720p on the Standard model costs 10 credits. Start from the AI rap battle generator.
